City of Hull AC Runner
Sport provides endless opportunities. It keeps you fit. It helps you make new friends (or have fun with old friends). It makes you laugh (and cry). And it gives you some amazing memories.
Knowing that running gives me a better body and a less-stressed life gives me the motivation to get on my feet and out of the door.
But it's not just about keeping fit. Through running I've met some of my best friends, and I've pushed myself to accomplish things I would never have dreamed of doing.
Running has something to suit everyone, from absolute beginners and gentle joggers to seasoned runners who'd like to go that little bit faster. It's a cheap way to keep fit and a great way to explore. Plus you can do it almost anywhere, whether you want to pound the streets or head out into the hills. And although the weather sometimes isn't particularly inviting, I know I'll start enjoying myself after the first few minutes, I've just got to overcome that initial dread of setting foot outside.
Running boosts your self-confidence as well as your health. It's made me more aware of my body and, even when I'm not exercising, being fit helps me to become more productive and learn how to get the best form myself.
I'm supporting the Hull and East Yorkshire Sporting Heroes and Champions Awards because sometimes it takes a lot of determination to step out of your comfort zone and get moving. All those people who do this, and who support others along the way, are a real inspiration.
